Deer Hunting in West Bali National Park, Man in Buleleng Arrested by Police

A man in Bali with the initials K (33) had to deal with the police after hunting for a protected species of deer in the West Bali National Park (TNBB). He was arrested by the Buleleng Resort Police (Polres) together with the Forestry Police (Polhut) when officers held a routine patrol in the forest of Sumberklampok Village, TNBB area. "The Buleleng Police are handling the alleged crime of poaching protected animals in the West Bali National Park," said Buleleng Police Chief, AKBP Andrian Pramudianto in a written statement, Monday (4/10/2021).

After being checked, the person had brought the prey in the form of an animal deer that was already in the form of flesh along with its bones and head. "Due to this incident, the joint team immediately secured the perpetrators and took them to the Buleleng Police Station," he said. In addition, the police also confiscated two whistles to summon deer, a Honda Supra X motorcycle with license plate number DK-7362-UI, ten rounds of 55 caliber air rifle ammunition, and five kilograms of deer meat.

The perpetrator has now been named a suspect and is being held at the Buleleng Police Rutan for the next 20 days. "The suspect is subject to Article 40 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 21 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 33 paragraph 3 of the RI Law No. 5 of 1990 concerning KSDAE, threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 5 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 100 million rupiah," he concluded.
